After the Festival Ends

After the Festival Ends

Summer Festival Series Vol.5

The lanterns are gone.

The music has faded.

The streets that were filled with laughter only yesterday are quiet once again.

And yet, something remains.

A paper lantern sways gently in the morning breeze.

The scent of summer still lingers in the air.

A few leaves rest on the stone path where countless footsteps passed the night before.

The festival may have ended, but its warmth has not disappeared.

Some memories stay with us not because they are grand, but because they are gentle.

The sound of distant drums.

The glow of lanterns at dusk.

The colors of the yukata move through the evening light.

And the quiet moments hidden between the crowds.

These memories become part of summer itself.

They return unexpectedly—through a familiar scent, a warm breeze, or the soft glow of evening.

Perhaps that is why festivals are cherished year after year.

Not only for celebration.

But for the feelings they leave behind.

Summer moves on.

The cicadas continue to sing.

And somewhere, another lantern is waiting to be lit.
